Royal View Transmission Mainline

Home > Our community > Planning & projects > Current capital projects > Royal View Transmission Mainline

This capital project will oversee the installation of a new, large diameter water transmission main from the Knox Mountain Reservoirs and will tie-in with existing water infrastructure at the Ethel St and Weddell Pl intersection. Once complete, this new main will help provide additional conveyance capacity and a dedicated source of drinking water to the areas south and east of downtown. As the demand for potable water continues, the new main will be a critical replacement to the currently undersized Royal View Transmission main located along a slope with known slide risk.

Site activity planned for Fall 2024 include:

  • A geophysical survey of the rock face in Knox Mountain Park where the proposed main will be installed - August 26 to 29
  • Environmental drilling and ground sampling in the Ethel St corridor, north of Weddell Pl - September 10 to 13
  • A geotechnical borehole investigation at the toe of and on top of the rock face in Knox Mountain Park where the proposed main will be installed - September 23 to 25
  • Utility locating - periodically between December 17 and January 10
