Activity Centre in Glenmore

The Activity Centre in Glenmore is more than a building. It's a social hub for community, bringing people together to learn, move, grow, and celebrate. The Glenmore and Mission Activity Centres will feature 91 childcare spaces each with support through the provincial ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund, with the potential for spaces in Rutland as well.

Activity Centres typically feature:

• Large program spaces - sprung floors and high ceilings for dance, yoga, basketball, volleyball, etc. 
• Flexible spaces - that can accommodate lots of different types of programs like art, music, and community events.
• Youth spaces - for childcare and youth programming.

What is the timeline for the project? 

• 2025 to 2027: Phase 6 - Design and Construction of Glenmore Park.
• 2025 to 2027: Construction of the Activity Centre in Glenmore.
• 2024/2025: Phase 4 and 5 - Construction of Glenmore Recreation Park.
• Fall/Winter 2024: Technical Design of Activity Centre in Glenmore.
• Fall 2023 to Spring 2024: Establish Functional Requirement of Activity Centre.
• Fall 2023: Phase 4 and 5 - Technical Design of Glenmore Park.
• Fall 2023: Glenmore Recreation Park Master Plan.

During the Council review of the Indoor Recreation Facilities Strategy and 10-year Capital Plan Workshop, advancing the planning and delivery of Activity Centres were identified as priorities.
