April 25, 2025

Join the City of Kelowna in celebrating the opening of DeHart Park with free family-friendly activities for everyone to enjoy while exploring and experiencing the new park space.

Date: Saturday, May 3
Time: 10 a.m. to noon
Location: 687 DeHart Road

Park & Play will be set up with recreational activities for all ages including inflatables and lawn games. Please note that the inflatables will be made available when weather conditions allow.

Sports equipment will also be available for activities such as basketball, ping pong, and foosball in the new basketball court and games area of the park.

Attendees are encouraged to consider alternative transportation methods like walking, biking, or taking transit to reach the new community park.

The park preserved and enhanced natural and open spaces such as existing trees while adding a pollinator and dryland meadow. Amenity spaces within the park include pickleball courts, a basketball court, multi-use field, outdoor fitness equipment, a playground and children's water play area, a fenced-off space for dogs, a games area, skate feature, pump track, a walking loop, picnic tables, seating areas and relocation of the community garden, along with infrastructure improvements for  vehicle, transit, cycling, and pedestrian access needs.

Park washroom construction is scheduled for the summer and fall of this year, while the pump track requires fencing, irrigation and landscaping work prior to opening to the public. The park also has over 250 new deciduous and coniferous trees and 11,000 bulbs, grasses, shrubs, and perennials. Newly seeded and planted areas have been fenced to allow for proper irrigation and establishment and appreciate the public support in respecting these growing areas.
