September 9, 2024

Public Service Announcement

If you’ve been looking for a sign to plant a tree in your yard this fall, this is it. There is just one week left to pre-order your NeighbourWoods tree. And for the first time ever, residents can now pre-order up to two trees per household. Choose from the six remaining tree varieties at a reduced price of $50 + GST until sales close on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

NeighbourWoods is a residential planting initiative that encourages Kelowna citizens to help grow and preserve our urban forest. This year’s remaining varieties include the Bur Oak, Greenspire Linden, Hot Wings® Tatarian Maple, Northern Acclaim Honeylocust, Ohio Buckeye and the Sugar Maple.

View the tree descriptions online and pre-order your tree(s) of choice online at kelowna.ca/neighbourwoods. To order online, residents must have an active online recreation account through rec.kelowna.ca. Pre-orders can also be made by phone with a credit card at 250-469-8800.

The NeighbourWoods pick-up event will depend on the tree variety purchased and will either be September 25, 26 or 27. Residents can pick-up their tree on their tree’s respective pick-up date between 12 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Mission Recreation Park Arboretum, 4105 Gordon Drive. For those picking up more than one variety of tree, please pick-up on Friday, Sept. 27. Please bring your receipt (if applicable), proof of residency and a vehicle that’s appropriate for transporting your tree(s).
