Grow neighbourly connections: grants available for neighbourhood-led projects
News Release
Winter is the perfect time to start planning a neighbourhood project or event for this spring. If you have an idea that’ll bring neighbours together and enhance your neighbourhood, we can help make it happen.
The Neighbourhood Grant and Youth Development and Engagement Grant are both open for spring project applications. These grants support resident-led projects or events with a goal to connect neighbours and improve neighbourhood quality of life.
“So many great neighbourhood projects have come together with the help of these grants,” said Mandy Pollard, Community Development Coordinator. “From community gardens to cleanup projects, outdoor movie nights to porch concerts, painting projects to block parties, we’re constantly impressed by residents' creativity in bringing neighbours together and making their neighbourhoods a better place to live.”
Neighbourhood Grants
With support from Central Okanagan Foundation, Neighbourhood Grants provide up to $1,500 in matching funds to support neighbourhood projects. If your idea helps to bring people together and is inclusive to all in your neighbourhood, we want to support it.
Applications for spring projects are being accepted until Jan. 27. Grants awarded will support projects to complete before the end of June 2025.
Youth Development & Engagement Grants
The Youth Development and Engagement Grant offers up to $1,000 in matching funds for youth-led projects or events. Youth ages 13-24 can team up to get creative, gain leadership experience, and rack up volunteer hours, all while improving the neighbourhood. Applications for 2025 projects are open now.
