Project overview
The rejuvenation of Waterfront Park’s Island Stage aims to replace the aging structure, creating more opportunities for events and expanding the park area for public enjoyment when events are not taking place.

Project scope
The project includes partially filling in the Waterfront Park lagoon, upgrading electrical services, and installing a new low-maintenance event stage and canopy.

Timeline
The Island Stage Rejuvenation is scheduled for completion Spring 2025.

Project benefits
The revitalized event and park space will:

  • Improve the park and event space for a variety of activities.
  • Enhance safety through better design.
  • Reduce emissions and reliance on supplemental power.
  • Lower maintenance requirements.

Construction impacts
Construction has already started in the fall of 2024. The immediate construction area will be closed for the duration of the project and there may be periodic closures of Waterfront Park to ensure public and worker safety.

Funding
The $1.64 million project is being funded in partnership between the City of Kelowna and the Province of British Columbia Ministry of Tourism, Arts Culture and Sport through the Destination Development Grant Funding.
