Financial Services
Financial Services provides various departments and Council with day-to-day financial advice on all matters involving the expenditure of funds and/or generation of revenue on a policy and ad-hoc basis. The Department develops and implements long-range plans which meet the capital and operating needs of the community within the guidelines of the City's Official Community Plan.
The Financial Services Department is responsible for:
- advice and guidance to Council and City Management;
- financial planning, budgeting and reporting;
- corporate payroll and investments;
- property taxes, general accounts receivable, utility billing and cash collections; and
- administration of Development Cost Charges
Financial Accounting
The Financial Accounting Branch:
- prepares annual financial statements,
- administers the payroll function,
- administers accounts payable, and
- manages the City's debt.
Financial Planning
The Financial Planning Branch is responsible for:
- Budget preparation
- reserve projections and administers reserve funding
- 20 Year Servicing Plan, development cost charges, and
- 10-Year Capital Plan.
Revenue
The Revenue Branch is responsible for the administration of:
- Cash collections
- General accounts receivable
- Property taxes
- Utility billing
