Reference #: 12240. Name: RFI - Dual-Fuel Hydrogen Conversion for Fleet Vehicles
Description: The City of Kelowna is developing a Hydrogen Strategy aimed at establishing local access to hydrogen refueling infrastructure in Kelowna, British Columbia. As part of this initiative, the City is exploring opportunities to convert its fleet of dump trucks, medium-duty trucks, and/or buses to operate on a dual-fuel blend of hydrogen and diesel fuel.
To advance this strategy, the City is seeking information and proposals from industry leaders in dual-fuel technology to support the phased conversion of its fleet.
In Phase 1, the City plans to convert four (4) dump trucks to dual fuel capability. Future phases will involve the conversion of at least ten (10) additional trucks, with the potential to scale hydrogen production and fueling capacity to support up to 100 vehicles per day. The City is considering various hydrogen-based solutions, including:
• Dual-fuel hydrogen-diesel systems
• Hydrogen fuel cell technology
• Zero-emission hydrogen combustion vehicles
Interested vendors are invited to submit their responses, supporting documentation, and references for consideration. The City of Kelowna will use this information to inform the development of a procurement strategy for hydrogen vehicle conversion. Project closes Mar 10, 2025 2:00 PM PDT.
