The Rec & Ride Summer Youth Pass is a highly discounted pass for kids and youth in Kelowna to get active and stay connected with access to both local transit and Parkinson Recreation Centre throughout July and August.  The pass is available for kids in our community ages 18 and under.

Passes are $20 for children up to age 12 and $50 for youth ages 13-18. Adults supervising children under 13 years of age, who have Rec & Ride passes, will be offered a $2 drop-in fee at PRC when they visit the facility together.

Passes can be purchased in-person at Parkinson Recreation Centre (1800 Parkinson Way) from June 20 until August 5, 2024. Pass holders must be present at time of purchase in order to have their photo taken for their pass and identification is required to be shown for children aged 13 and up, including a school ID or a driver's license. Passes are valid from June 28 until September 2, 2024.

The Rec & Ride Summer Youth Pass is offered with support from The Stober Foundation to help support barrier-free access to activities for kids. For a limited time (provided on a first come, first served basis) 2024 Rec & Ride passes will be 25% off thanks to the generous support of the Stober Foundation.

Passes are available for purchase from June 20 until August 5, 2024. Passes are valid from June 28 until September 2, 2024.

Is the pass refundable?

Sorry, passes are not eligible for refund.

What if my child already has a PRC membership?

Memberships can be put on hold for the summer so families can take advantage of the Rec & Ride Summer Youth Pass pricing and bus pass. Please call 250-469-8800 to speak to a recreation clerk.

Where can I purchase the pass?

The pass can only be purchased in-person at Parkinson Recreation Centre (1800 Parkinson Way) as the pass holder must have their photo taken on-site and receive a physical pass. Please note that identification is required to be shown for children aged 13 and up at time of purchase, including school ID or driver’s license.

Does my child need to be present at the time of purchase?

Yes, the pass holder will need to have their photo taken for their pass at the time of purchase.

Are passes available through BC Transit?

Not at this time. The Rec & Ride Summer Youth Pass is only available for purchase at Parkinson Recreation Centre (1800 Parkinson Way).

Can I get my card replaced if I lose or damage it?

Yes, replacement cards are $5 and can be purchased at Parkinson Recreation Centre (1800 Parkinson Way).

Why are there two different prices?

The fee structure is different because children 12 and under already ride the bus for free. Youth ages 13-18 pay a youth fee with BC Transit. Youth 13 years and older also have additional access to the Fitness Centre at Parkinson Recreation Centre.

Both fees are still offered at a significant discount to help lower financial barriers for kids and families in visiting our facility over the summer. Parkinson Recreation Centre has everything you need to have a fun, quality time with family for friends during the summer break.

Is the Rec and Ride schedule only for Rec and Ride Pass Holders?

The designated open times in the Rec and Ride schedule and the Youth Area (Orchard Room) are dedicated for children and youth use.
Rec & Ride gym times are for Rec & Ride pass holders OR drop-in youth and the accompanying parent.
